Otaczajace plac budynki i drzewa tworzą opowieść o Krakowie niczym szerokie kadry ścian w galeriach muzealnych. Atrakcyjność placu zbudowana jest w oparciu o zaskakujące widoki, przestrzenie i materiały. Sam plac staje się jednocześnie forum na przestrzeni którego koegzystują rozmaite formy aktywności mieszkańców. Muzeum Narodowe jako główny gospodarz prestiżowej przestrzeni staje się tym samym aktywnym graczem i animatorem wydarzeń społecznych. Projekt zakłada podział terenu będącego przedmiotem opracowania na trzy główne przestrzenie: plac przed Muzeum Narodowym – miejsce o najbardziej formalnym charakterze z racji pełnionej funkcji, nieformalny teren rekreacyjny przed budynkiem akademika oraz wiążący powyższe obszary teren będący przestrzenią wejściową na Błonia. Otoczenie placu przed Muzeum nie podlega zasadom tradycyjnie rozumianej symetrii, zachowuje natomiast symetrię znaczeniową. Pozwala to uniknąć podporządkowania przestrzeni placu gmachowi Muzeum. W prezentowanym projekcie Plac jest dla Muzeum elementem równoważnym i prowadzi z nim przestrzenny dialog.
The surrounding buildings and trees tell a story about Cracov just like display units in museums. The value of the new square is built with astonishing and suprising panoramas, spaces and materials. It also functions as a forum for different activities for local residents and museum visitors. The National Museum is a host, but also a main player in the spectacle. Our project divides the square into three distinctive spaces. The square in front of the National Museum is the most sensible and formal. Space nearby students dormitory serves as place for informal meetings and recreation. The third space connects the latter squares to Blonia. Designed surroundings of the museum don´t follow the traditional rule of symetry, avoiding formal and spatial domination of the museum buiding. Instead, our project is respecting the equation of functional equilibrium. The new square and the museum coexist and meet in a contemporary dialogue.
